Simon said her audition was like a ‘punch in the face’, but it was he…

Chicago rock-soul-R&B singer Liv Warfield won Simon Cowell’s ‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer with an original song.

Liv Warfield has worked with the likes of Prince and Nancy Wilson of Heart, but she’s still hoping for the break that will take her career soaring to the top of the charts, and she’s hoping that her appearance on Season 19 of America’s Got Talent will do that for her.Simon Cowell Gives Golden Buzzer to Jaw-Dropping Singer Liv Warfield | NBC Insider

“I’ve been on a lot of stages and I’m just glad to be here to be able to do the music and do what I love, to be able to represent that,” Liv told judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara before she rocked the AGT stage. Then she added, “I have been doing this for a long time and the music industry is hard. Things have changed over time. I continue to push because I feel I have a story. I want to inspire people because I haven’t quit, and I won’t.”

The rock/soul/R&B singer who resides in Chicago definitely didn’t quit when her band joined her on stage for an dynamic, no-holds-barred performance of her original song “Stare.”

When the standing ovation ended and the applause died down, Simon told her, “I have a problem. That wasn’t long enough. Seriously, that lyric, wrecking ball, that was how I felt just then. It was like in a good way being punched in the face by your energy, the band, all these years of frustration, and you come on here and I’m sorry, I can’t give you a yes. I’ve got to give you one of these.” And Simon hit the Golden Buzzer, sending Liv and her band directly to the Live Shows before any of the other judges could comment on her performance.

Then, Simon ran up on stage and hugged Liv, who said, “I’m overwhelmed. Thank you. We’re so grateful. We live for the music.” And Simon added, “Great things are going to happen after this. It was the least I could do. You just made our show great.”
